ADVENTURE Magazine and the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA)
for the 2009 Jordan Travel Mart

MCLEAN, Virginia (October 17, 2008) – Whether it’s trekking by foot or by camel, hiking or air-ballooning in Wadi Rum, diving in the Red Sea, the adventure travel market in Jordan has it all! Being at the center of the old and modern worlds, Jordan offers a rich experience to the adventure traveler, which allows visitors to play a participatory and exciting role that often involves nature.

To further promote the valuable resources the country has to offer, and recognizing the prominence of the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) and National Geographic ADVENTURE magazine and the educative role both organizations play in the North American adventure market, the Jordan Tourism Board N.A. is pleased to announce its partnership with National Geographic ADVENTURE magazine and ATTA for its Jordan Travel Mart 2009 event.  After the success of the first Jordan Travel Mart and the positive response received from American buyers as well as the Jordan travel industry, the second JTM will be held on Feb 22-24, 2009 at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center at the Dead Sea.

“It is indeed an honor to partner with National Geographic ADVENTURE and ATTA for JTM 2009, we are very excited about the possibilities in positioning Jordan together as a premiere Adventure Destinations for American Tourists,”  said Malia Asfour, Director of JTBNA. “We look forward to introducing the American trade to our Eco and Adventure tourism sites and setting up opportunities for the Jordanian trade to hold in-depth meetings and workshops for this important market,” she said.

Bryan Kinkade, director of Travel and Tourism at the National Geographic ADVENTURE magazine said: "National Geographic ADVENTURE works to actively promote and develop responsible and sustainable practices in the adventure travel market. In doing so, we help protect the character, authenticity, and diversity of adventure destinations worldwide.  ADVENTURE is pleased to partner with the Jordan tourism Board and the JTM as the country emerges as one of the most compelling new adventure and sustainable travel destinations in the world”.

The JTM presents a great opportunity for us to develop business and marketing partnerships with some of the best operators and suppliers focused on this region, and, to better understand what is becoming one of the hottest new destinations for adventure travelers,” he adds.

“We look forward to meeting with Jordanian tour operators and other Jordanian tourism stakeholders during the Travel Mart, both to learn more about what specifically they need from an association like the ATTA to be successful and also to introduce them to a global network of other operators, media, service providers and more.” said Mr. Shannon Stowell, President of ATTA.
